Longines Spirit Zulu Time gets titanium case

Watch with GMT hand first launched in 2022, taking name from a historical piece

The Longines Spirit Zulu Time has been launched with a new 39mm titanium case.

The Zulu Time was added to the Longines Spirit collection in 2022.

The name comes from the brand’s first dual timezone watch from the 1920s.

That watch had the Zulu flag on the dial in reference to the letter Z, which designates the Zulu time zone – also known as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) – used by pilots and the military.

The launch collection in 2022 was a watch with a 42mm steel case.

A 39mm steel model was added last year, which is now joined by this lightweight titanium version.

The model is powered by the Longines anti-magnetic GMT calibre L844.4.

The COSC certified automatic movement has a silicon balance-spring and a 72-hour power reserve.

The bi-directional ceramic bezel has a 24-hour scale divided into two shades of black to indicate the hours of the day and night.

The watch is water-resistant up to 100m.

The bracelet is also Grade 5 titanium, with a double-security folding clasp and pusher-operated opening mechanism.

The anthracite dial has a “Zulu Time” inscription and a date aperture at 6 o’clock.

Superluminova is liberally applied on the numerals, hour and minute and the red-tipped 24-hour GMT hand.
