Back in 2022 Longines rescued the 1968 Ultra-Chron from its archives, and now the model makes its return in 2025 with a carbon fibre case.
Blending retro style with modern proportions and movement, the 43mm, 14mm-thick timepiece’s new cushion-shaped case gives it a sleek, darker feel.
This case is crafted from unidirectional carbon fiber and epoxy resin, molded, heated, and compressed to form its cushion shape. The unique carbon patterns and lightweight materials result in a watch weighing just 80g, including the strap.
The new edition has a fixed titanium bezel with a matte black aluminium insert and silver numerals.
The titanium crown and caseback are screwed-down, making the watch water resistant up to 300m.
The high-frequency model comes in a subdued color palette of blacks and greys.
Behind the caseback lies the calibre L836.6, a highly modified ETA movement with a 5Hz frequency, an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring, and a 52-hour power reserve. Certified as a chronometer by TimeLab, it meets ISO 3159 standards.
The watch is priced at $4,900.
