Junghans FORM Bauhaus Edition watch

Junghans celebrates 100 years of Bauhaus Dessau with limited editions

'Form follows function' is enlivened with Bauhaus color theory in two new models

Apart from Art Deco, Bauhaus is perhaps one of the biggest art movement influences on modern watchmaking. This year, the iconic design school celebrates 100 years since it moved from Weimar, its place of foundation, to Dessau.

In tribute, German brand Junghans launches two special watches – the FORM A Bauhaus Edition and FORM Quartz Bauhaus Edition – limited to just 1,000 pieces each.

Junghans FORM A Bauhaus Edition watch

The FORM A Bauhaus stands out in all-black – from the PVD-coated steel case to the matte black dial and Milanese bracelet. Clean lines and minimalism echo Bauhaus’ “form follows function” philosophy. Here, color is used sparingly but effectively, with twelve bright hour markers inspired by Bauhaus color theory. Powering this watch is the J800.2 automatic movement, offering a 38-hour power reserve and date display.

Meanwhile, the FORM Quartz Bauhaus presents a lighter design with a silver-plated bowl-shaped dial in a polished stainless steel case. The dial showcases a full color wheel, including primary and secondary hues spaced evenly around the dial. The neutral grey hands are accented with lume for easy reading in low light. Inside is the reliable J645.37 quartz movement, also featuring a date function.

Both watches feature flat sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating, 50 meter water resistance, and quick-release Milanese bracelets. Unique Bauhaus motifs decorate the casebacks – printed under crystal on the FORM A and finely engraved on the FORM Quartz.

The FORM A Bauhaus Edition is priced at £1,290, while the FORM Quartz costs £590.
