HYT has promoted Vahé Vartzbed from general manager to CEO.
The seasoned watch executive joined HYT a year ago from Greubel Forsey, where he spent three years in charge of sales in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Prior to that, he held a number of senior sales roles during five years with Girard-Perregaux.
HYT, with its unique fluid-based movements and watch designs, has had a chequered past since its founding in 2012 and went bust in 2021.
It was revived later that year after its name and assets were bought by Kairos Technology Switzerland (KTS) for an undisclosed sum.
KTS hired Davide Cerrato as CEO for HYT, but he moved to Bremont last year, leaving Vincent Perriard running the company with Nicolas Sestito taking a caretaker role as interim CEO.
With the appointment of Mr Varzbed, Mr Perriard is taking a step back and will assume the chairmanship of the company. Mr Sestito is leaving.
2024 is proving to be a challenging year for all but the biggest brands, but HYT believes it has a more commercial proposition in the T1 Series of slimmer, sportier watches that launched in April.
Mr Varzbed says his aim is to perpetuate the brand’s disruptive and creative spirit and is determined to keep innovating with the fluid-based watches for which the company is famous.
“I am fascinated by this absolutely unique universe, which has been combining watchmaking tradition with fluid innovation since its creation in 2012, I am deeply honoured to continue building the next chapters in the history of HYT Watches, a process we started with our team from my arrival last year,” he adds.
