HYT has released a unique version of its Conical Tourbillon watch decorated with more than 500 diamonds.
HYT brought shockwaves to the watchmaking world at launch in 2012, when it introduced fluid mechanics with exclusive hydro-mechanical technology, but the business has been on a roller-coaster of success and failure, leading to the current leadership team relaunching in 2022.
The brand’s pioneering culminated last year in the Conical Tourbillon, from the mind of master watchmaker Eric Coudray.
This expression of the HYT philosophy features retrograde fluid hours to perform its 30-second rotations, accompanied with what it calls the ‘chaotic animation’ of three rotating spheres.
Recently we saw a black and white ‘Panda’ version of the watch with white ceramic and black DLC titanium inserts.
This latest piece, Conical Tourbillon Infinity Diamonds, is the most be-jewelled version yet, with the heart of the dial featuring three 64-facet round brilliant-cut diamonds, the dial itself with 400 snow-set diamonds, and an upper case set with an additional 175 snow-set diamonds.
Over three months of meticulous handwork was required to set the almost 600 diamonds of ten different sizes.
The 701 TC caliber automatic movement features a conical tourbillon that elevates as it animates at the heart of the mechanics: spiral balance inclined at 30 degrees, escape wheel offset at 15 degrees, and anchor at 23 degrees.
The HYT Conical Tourbillon Infinity Diamonds involves a total of 750 components, all assembled and verified individually by hand. This 48mm bicolour case is in 5N gold and black DLC-coated titanium.
