Hublot unveils collaboration with Japanese art legend

New MP-15 is the latest collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami

Hublot has unveiled its latest collaboration with the artist Takashi Murakami.

He is well known in his native Japan for blending traditional and contemporary artistic styles.

Murakami is probably best known internationally for designing the alien flower-power cover to Kanye West’s 2007 album Graduation.

The new MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow has a 42mm flower case with twelve polished titanium petals set with 444 colored gemstones.

Hublot first began working with Murakami in 2021, and has made Takashi Murakami Classic Fusions, along with a series of one-off pieces.

He was also part of Hublot’s sale of NFTs alongside watches.

And there was an MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon in the 2023 Only Watch charity auction.

The newly revealed MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow is a limited edition of 20 watches.

It differs from the one-off auction piece in that the 12 petals, which serve as hour markers, are in different shades.

It is powered by the HUB9015 manually wound movement with 120 hour power reserve.

Many parts of the central tourbillon movement have been skeletonised.

It comes on a transparent rubber strap with a sapphire crystal and titanium deployant buckle.
