Herbelin’s funky black and orange Cap Camarat Diver

Automatic addition to the Saint-Tropez inspired range of watches

Herbelin has unveiled the latest addition to its growing list of holiday-inspired Cap Camarat watches.

Cap Camarat is one of the capes on the French Riviera’s upscale Saint-Tropez peninsula.

The well-known beauty spot has inspired a whole range of Herbelins of late, and recent releases include a square skeletonised automatic and a smaller quartz version.

Like that skeletonised watch, the Self-Winding Cap Camarat Diver is powered by a Sellita automatic movement.

The new watch instead has a round 42mm stainless steel case with a black DLC coating.

It has twin crowns, one for setting the time, day and date, the other for the bi-directional rotating internal diving gauge.

The orange warning zone on the diving gauge matches the color of the strap.

The strap is made from a synthetic material – a high-performance FKM elastomer, for those who understand their polymers.

Screw-down crowns and a screw-in caseback contribute to a handy 200m of water resistance.

Herbelin takes its name from the founder, French watchmaker Michel Herbelin, who started the business from his parents’ home in 1947.

It is based in the town of Charquemont, on the French side of the Jura mountain range – just across the hills from the heart of Swiss watchmaking.

Since 2020, the company has been managed by Maxime and Mathieu Herbelin, grandsons of the founder, along with two other members of the Herbelin family.

The Self-Winding Cap Camarat Diver costs $1,479, and is available on herbelin.com.
