French watchmaking atelier, Herbelin, has made a bold new addition to its known-and-loved Newport Héritage collection.
The new addition takes inspiration from the iconic dive watches of the 70s, embracing the spirit of Newport, first launch in 1988.
With nearly 80 years of experience in all things horological, Herbelin blends vintage charm with modern-day performance to bring the Newport Héritage Diver to sportsmen and holiday-goers alike.
The 2025 version of the 70s dive watch stays true to the maritime DNA of the original collection whilst capturing the essence of French sportsmanship with its water-resistant feature allowing wearers to dive to 300 meters without losing track of time.
Herbelin’s new timepiece fuses retro flair with technical sophistication, encased in a 42mm cushion-shaped silhouette crafted from 1970s-esque 316L stainless steel.
The watch also features a unidirectional ceramic bezel with 120 precise clicks for optimal grip and a grained black dial encircled by a sky-blue flange.
Whether worn for adventures, sports, or holidays, the watch’s minimalist minute track around the periphery and a crisp white day-date display enhance everyday functionality.
Mathieu Herbelin, co-creative director and grandson of the brand’s founder, said: “Herbelin is a brand enriched by a genuine horological heritage dating back to the mid-20th century. This legacy allows us to draw inspiration from a past that speaks directly to today’s passion for vintage style.”
His cousin, Maxime Herbelin, the brand’s marketing director, added: “The success of our first Newport Héritage model, introduced in 2020 with its three hands and day-date display, confirmed our desire to expand this emblematic line.”
The new model was designed, assembled, and regulated in the brand’s Jura workshops located in the Franche-Comté region of France.
At its heart beats a Swiss-made Sellita automatic movement, chosen for its reliability and precision.
It offers a daily deviation of 0 to +15 seconds, a 28,800 vph frequency, and a 41-hour power reserve.
To continue the homage to the past, the watch is paired with a vintage-inspired technical fabric strap, but can also be swapped for an FKM rubber strap or a Milanese mesh bracelet.
The Newport Héritage Diver is on sale for £1,150 / €1,250 herbelin.co.uk
