Formex is celebrating quarter of a century with the launch of the Essence Space Glacier, a unique meteorite-dial watch crafted with cutting-edge techniques.
Here, the dial takes centrestage, crafted from the 4.5-billion-year-old Muonionalusta meteorite that showcases a naturally formed Widmanstätten pattern.
To highlight the meteorite’s beauty, Formex developed a pioneering two-stage process: first plating the dial with 98% pure silver, then applying six ultra-thin layers of glacier-blue zapon teinté by hand.
The result is stunning depth and clarity, bringing the cosmic material vividly to life.
In a feat of technical mastery, the beveled date window is machined directly into the meteorite dial, without the use of backing plates.
The entire watch is finished with vertically brushed and mirror-polished surfaces, Super-LumiNova BGW9-filled hands and indices, and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
Available in both 39mm and 43mm stainless steel cases, this model is powered by a COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve.
It also features Formex’s patented Case Suspension System and Fine-Adjustment Deployant Clasp.
The Space Glacier is priced from $1,870 on rubber or leather straps and $1,990 on a steel bracelet, with a limited annual production of 100 pieces per case size.
Pre-orders open now, with delivery by the end of April.
