Earth with John Holden champions Citizen’s eco-friendly watchmaking credentials

Eco-Drive enables a watch to be powered by a light source (natural or man-made), eliminating the need for regular battery replacement.

Anyone watching Fox Business Network, Bloomberg TV or BNN Bloomberg on Sunday night, may have seen six-times Emmy Award-winning John Holden discovering the eco credentials of Citizen.

But don’t worry if you missed it. There will be a second chance to catch it on 11 December at 3:30 pm ET on Bloomberg TV and 10am ET on BNN Bloomberg. It is also available to stream now on all the usual platforms including Vimeo, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV, and YouTube.

Citizen

With decades of journalistic experience under his belt, Mr Holden has worked in reporting, investigating and producing news for NBC, CBS, and ABC. He has interviewed top business leaders, A-list celebrities and world leaders.

His current passion is sustainability and, through the critically-acclaimed Earth series he searches the world for companies and initiatives that improve the way we live through a commitment to protecting the environment and creating a better world.

As well as highlighting the work and green standards of US Steel, Blue Ridge Energy, Modern Niagara and VTech, in last night’s episode, Mr Holden also took viewers on a trip to Tokyo to the Citizen Watch Group. Citizen earned its place on the show thanks to its four decades of work into Eco-Drive technology.

Eco-Drive enables a watch to be powered by a light source (natural or man-made), eliminating the need for regular battery replacement. Although this seems like a small advancement, Eco-Drive today allows Citizen to save from landfill enough batteries to reach the summit of Mount Everest – every year!

In addition to Eco-Drive, Mr Holden also focuses on Citizen’s aims to reduce global warming by putting in place various sustainability goals throughout its manufacturing facilities and offices.
