Christopher Ward has teamed up once again with Romaric André, the French designer behind seconde/seconde/, to create an eye-catching limited edition timepiece, The Twelve Snake, in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
Following the success of their 2024 collaboration, the duo has unveiled this bold design as a tribute to the Snake, the sixth animal in the Chinese Zodiac and the motif representing 2025.
The Twelve Snake draws inspiration from retro gaming aesthetics, with an 8-bit style dial that nods to the golden age of pixelated graphics. The dial features a playful snake navigating through right-angle turns, feasting on pixels, with the Swiss side of Christopher Ward’s twin-flags logo serving as its target.
A unique “Venom” green hue, evocative of early LCD screens, characterizes the dial, enhancing the nostalgic feel and serves as a reminder of ‘brat summers’ gone by.
A twist comes in the form of a ‘no-date’ window located between the seven and eight o’clock positions, which displays ‘bonus bites’ – an Easter egg also inspired by retro games. These limited-time treats keep the dial visually clean while maintaining a playful, interactive element.
The 40mm stainless steel case is water-resistant to 100 meters and houses the reliable Sellita SW200-1 movement, offering a 38-hour power reserve and a timing tolerance of +/- 20 seconds per day.
A custom rotor with a curved, animated snake inside the caseback adds another layer of charm – a fitting characteristic of the namesake animal.
Available for pre-order now, The Twelve Snake is priced at £1,050/$1,225/€1,350 on a steel bracelet and £850/$995/€1,095 on a rubber strap. Deliveries will begin in July 2025.
