Christopher Ward lifts the lid on watchmaking in new documentary

‘Freewheelin’ follows the brand's biggest launch to date

Christopher Ward is making a first foray into the world of film with its first feature-length documentary, ‘Freewheelin’’.

Known for disrupting the watch industry since its 2004 launch as the world’s first online-only premium watch brand, the brand is now pulling back the curtain on the realities of modern watchmaking.

‘Freewheelin’’ follows the intense, behind-the-scenes story of the brand’s biggest launch yet – as yet to be announced.

With mounting challenges, creative roadblocks, and tight deadlines in the run-up to the April release, the film offers a raw, unfiltered look at the people, decisions, and pressure behind creating another (hopefully) award-winning timepiece.

CEO and co-founder Mike France explains: “Our customers are not only passionate about owning a beautiful watch – they seek intrinsic value and are deeply curious. They want to understand the decisions, the challenges, and the people who bring each piece to life. For our most significant launch yet, this documentary is our way of giving people a front-row seat to observe the craft – and the conflict – of a monumental horological project.”

Directed by Ben Anderson of Ursus Productions, the documentary captures the highs, lows, and candid moments often hidden from public view.

‘Freewheelin’’ will premiere at an exclusive BAFTA screening before its global online release on 23 April at 7pm BST on YouTube.
