The Biver watch company was launched in 2023 by industry veteran Jean-Claude Biver and his son Pierre.
The first highly anticipated piece from the brand was the Biver Carillon Tourbillon.
That complicated watch cost more than half a million dollars, a pretty punchy way to kick off a company, even with name recognition as strong as the Bivers.
The new piece, a three hander called the Biver Automatique, takes things to a more simple – if not exactly basic – level, with a focus on the finest finishing.
The three-handed automatic has solid 18k white or rose gold dials with matching coloured cases.
There are also Atelier Collection dials in dark stone, either Pietersite or Obsidian.
The 39mm case is available in either platinum or rose gold.
The 18k gold hands are matched with gold hands, both given anthracite finishes for increased legibility.
There is an applied 18k gold railroad track around the perimeter.
“A watch showing just the hours, minutes, and seconds is the most essential form of our art,” said Jean-Claude Biver. “Distilling complexity down to its purest, simplest incarnation can be its own kind of masterpiece, found in its absolute perfection and discipline. If you want to play the piano, you must first master scales and classical music before you can learn to play jazz.”
The watch is powered by Calibre JCB-003 automatic movement with 22k gold winding rotor and a 65-hour power reserve.
“The Calibre JCB-003 is a cornerstone on which we are building the Biver brand,” said Pierre Biver. “From the beginning, it was engineered with high performance and elevated decoration in mind. Our approach reflects a deep appreciation for movement architecture and a desire to balance the best of watchmaking past, present and future. The creation of this calibre is the first step in creating a distinctive type of Biver horology.”
The Biver Automatique comes on either a leather strap or precious metal bracelet and is priced from CHF 75,000.
