AVI-8 launches watch with head-up style display

Hawker Harrier HUD Automatic inspired by advanced displays in fighter jets and supercars

AVI-8 has launched a watch collection with an innovative design inspired by the head-up displays in fighter jets.

Head-up displays allow pilots – or the drivers of some sports cars – to see vital information projected in front of their eyes, so they don’t need to look down at the instruments.

AVI-8’s new Hawker Harrier HUD Automatic collection takes its name from the famous British jet.

The Harrier “jump jets” launched in the late 1960s changed the game with their famous vertical take-off.

The watches are covered in many deep luminous elements that light up in the dark to give the appearance of a head-up display.

They come in three principal colors – blue, black and orange – but each with eye-catching contrasting elements.

The watch has two crowns, one for setting the time and date, the other for operating the inner turning bezel.

The inner bezel has a turbine pattern in tribute to the Harrier’s jet engine.

The watch has a 44mm stainless steel case and is powered by a Seiko-derived automatic movement.

It is water-resistant to 50m and comes on a hybrid leather and rubber strap.

Available from August 23rd at avi-8.co.uk
