The latest brand to reveal a new watch in celebration of the Year of the Snake, Arnold & Son introduces a new Perpetual Moon 41.5.
An eight-piece timepiece series measuring 34mm and realized in 18K red gold, it combines a manufacture caliber with a large astronomical moon and aventurine glass dial base.
Artistic and delicate as has become signature of the brand, the Perpetual Moon 41.5 features a hand-carved 18-karat rose gold snake motif while a mother-of-pearl moon is overlaid with Super-LumiNova.
Depicting the stars – an important factor in determining periods, thresholds, and symbols in the Chinese zodiac calendar – the constellations of Ursa Major and Cassiopeia are also painted with luminescent material.
A secondary display of the phases of the moon is visible on the caseback, allowing fast and accurate adjustment of the complication.
The timepiece is powered by a manual A&S1512 caliber movement that tracks the age of the moon with impressive accuracy, as well as the monthly lunar cycle – 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds.
Created end-to-end at the manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, this caliber uses two barrels and offers an oscillation frequency of 3 Hz, giving a 90-hour power reserve.
Water resistant to 30 meters, it’s finished with a blue alligator strap, lined with a contrasting red hue.
Limited to just eight pieces, the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold costs CHF 57,200.
