American brand Jacob & Co. is launching a brand new timepiece in collaboration with digital collectible platform CryptoPunk.
Digital collectibles are known as NFTs, and are online original artworks. CryptoPunks have featured at prestigious international auctions includng Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and are included in permanent collections of art museums such as the ICA Miami, the Centre Pompidou, and the LACMA.
Spotlighting a skeleton structure, the intricate piece measures 44mm and a functional hour and minute JCAM45 caliber movement.
A feat of engineering, all the components that should be full are hollowed out. Instead of a mainplate, the entire movement is hanging on the two vertical bridges.
It is crafted from Grade 5 Titanium, and is detailed with the buyer’s custom CryptoPunk suspended above the mainspring.
It has a sapphire crystal caseback engraved with its custom CryptoPunk series number.
It is water resistant up to 100m (10 atm).
Jabob & Co.’s founder Jacob Arabo posted on X: “You know how much I love watches, this is one of the coolest things I’ve done!”
The watch comes as a total of 99 editions, with each a completely unique, one a one-of-one piece.
Each watch comes with a digital collectible (NFT).
The presale is currently open for people who own a CryptoPunk, and the release is digital and physical.
