Nostalgia is a big thing in the watch business – natural for an industry that still trades in clockwork, despite us going ever deeper into the digital age.
And some brands go bigger than others.
Previously, Avi-8 has given us watches dedicated to World War Two pilots, various famous bombing aircraft, and 1980s video games, among many others.
The aircraft-focused watchmaker is now collaborating with another brand with strong nostalgia power.
Airfix is a maker of model toys that certain demographics spent countless hours gluing together, particularly in the times before smartphones and game consoles.

Avi-8 is now offering a number of Airfix special editions.
There is the Spitfire-inspired Lock Chronograph Airfix Edition, and the Hawker Hurricane-inspired Carey Dual Time Airfix Edition and many more.
“More than just a collaboration, Avi-8 x Airfix represents a union of passionate craftsmen, historians, hobbyists, and enthusiasts dedicated to replicating history’s most crucial air and land mechanical marvels,” Avi-8 said. “Just as Airfix fosters a community around its brand, Avi-8 takes pride in narrating the compelling stories of remarkable individuals and machinery in military aviation.
It added: “With meticulous attention to detail and design integrity, every Airfix model encapsulates precision engineering and aesthetics, mirroring the commitment of Avi-8 to honour the aircraft of 20th-century military aviation.”
Watches in Avi-8 x Airfix collections are powered by Japanese quartz movements, and prices start at $210.
