Czapek one-off TimeForArt charity auction watch

Czapek makes ‘secret alloy’ watch for TimeForArt

One-off ‘Artists & Artisans’ piece created for the contemporary art charity auction

Czapek has unveiled a one-off watch created for the TimeForArt charity auction.

It was created with the help of master engraver Michèle Rothen, in collaboration with Czapek’s long-term partner, case specialist Metalem.

The Antarctique Artists & Artisans Pièce N°1 has a dial made from a rare gold alloy that Czapek is calling a “secret alloy”.

The dial is hand engraved and has a “trompe l’oeil” effect that makes it look like a skeleton watch.

It has a 40.5mm stainless steel case and an integrated steel bracelet.

It is powered by SXH5 automatic movement with 60-hour reserve and a micro-rotor made from recycled platinum.

“This unique piece is the first of a series that will bring together the rare talents of artists and artisans, in this case our historical manufacturing partner Metalem and our dear friend and master engraver Michèle Rothen,” said Czapek CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel.

He added: “Their artistry and craftsmanship are the perfect reflection of our commitment to preserving and promoting the rare individuals who contribute to the art of watchmaking. We are honored to donate this unique creation to benefit the Swiss Institute, and to demonstrate once again that luxury is about not just rare crafts, but the people behind them”.

The watch will be offered at the TimeForArt auction, held by Phillips New York on December 7th, 2024.
