Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon watch

Stellar newcomer from Arnold & Son

New version of Perpetual Moon has green dial with “stellar rays” finish

Arnold & Son has brought out a striking green-dialled version of the Perpetual Moon.

The new “fern green” watch has a 41.5mm platinum case along with Arnold & Son’s oversized moonphase complication.

This new combination of shades – the green along with the moonphase’s blue sky and the paleness of the platinum – gives what the brand calls an “original flow of colors”.

It follows earlier versions of the watch, one in salmon pink, the other sky blue.

This type of green was chosen in a nod to the abundance of ferns in the gardens of Cornwall, where the 18th century English watchmaker John Arnold was born.

The dial has what Arnold & Son calls a “stellar rays” finish.

This is achieved through irregular engraving of various depths and widths to create a “unique rhythm” that plays with the light.

The Perpetual Moon’s large moonphase display also gives space for more astronomical representation than other watches.

The moon is surrounded by star constellations Ursa Major – the Great Bear – along with Cassiopeia, aka the Seated Queen, which are hand-painted and overlaid with luminescent material.

The watch is powered by in-house Calibre A&S1512 hand-wound mechanical movement with 90-hour power reserve.

The Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon Fern Green is a limited edition of 28 watches and costs around $58,200.
