The off-beat sporty line C by Romain Gauthier line is available with a titanium case, but at the top of the line is the platinum version.
Previously the platinum case was only available with a rubber strap – if you wanted the C on a bracelet, you needed to stick with titanium.
That has now changed, and Romain Gauthier has released the platinum version with an integrated bracelet.
It has the C’s characteristic facetted bezel, the crown at 2pm and off-centre dial.
The platinum bezel is first machined into a round shape, then six straight sides are cut into it to create six facets.
The bracelet is designed to be fully integrated with the case – “The bracelet is the case, and the case is the bracelet” as Monsieur Gauthier puts it.
It also has a hand-engraved 18k white gold dial, and a movement with many of the parts made from 18k white gold.
The movement is decorated by hand with polished bevels, hand-frosted finishes, hand-engraving and more.
The in-house, hand-wound 4Hz calibre has a 50-hour power reserve.
The hands, numbers and indexes are also made of 18k white gold.
As well as the off-centre hour and minute hands, the indexes are of varying lengths.
“Rather than a series of enclosed circles, as we often see in watchmaking, I wanted an open, airy dial on which full or part orthogonal lines form vanishing points with the axes of the hands, reinforcing the notion of continuity and freedom,” Gauthier said.
