Glashütte Original worships the night

PanoLunarInverse makes the moon and stars the focus of attention

The moon phase is normally an add-on, an extra complication to add a little whimsy to your watch.

With this latest piece from Glashütte Original, the moon and the night sky are the centre of attention.

The PanoLunarInverse is the latest iteration of the East German brand’s characteristic twin off-centre dial and big date layout paired to an inverted movement.

The moon phase moves around the centre of the larger hour and minutes dial.

While the moon is known for disappearing during the day, on this watch its “silent presence can be felt at any hour”.

Once it has passed through the cut-out section of the dial, the moon is still visible behind a grey-blue sapphire crystal.

In another night-loving touch, behind the oversized moon is an aventurine glass that is colored to look like a star-filled sky.

The PanoLunarInverse has a 42mm platinum case and is powered by an in-house automatic movement with a 45-hour power reserve.

On the other side there is a sapphire crystal caseback that shows the winding rotor – itself fitted with a very detailed little domed moon.

It comes on either a grey alligator leather strap or a blue synthetic strap.

The Glashütte Original PanoLunarInverse is a limited edition of 200 watches.
