Grand Seiko looks to Japan’s famous Atera Valley

Green waters inspire new titanium-cased Spring Drive watch.

Grand Seiko’s fascination with the natural world has long been a source of inspiration for its watches.

So recently we had red-dialled watches that took their colour from the morning sun on the Hotaka mountains.

The latest drop is a watch that is inspired by the Atera Valley.

The valley in central Japan is close to Grand Seiko Shinshu Watch Studio – the home of Spring Drive watches.

The 6km long valley is a popular beauty spot, known for its waterfalls, wildflowers, and emerald green waters.

The Grand Seiko ‘Atera Valley’ Spring Drive has a green dial and a 40mm titanium case.

The 9RA2 Spring Drive movement has accuracy of +/- 0.5 seconds per day and a power reserve of 120 hours.

It has a sapphire crystal caseback and is water-resistant to 100m.

The new watch is part of ongoing celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Spring Drive.

The first commercially available version of the hybrid movement came out in 2004 and has become a popular option for Grand Seiko buyers.

The Grand Seiko ‘Atera Valley’ Spring Drive costs $10,400.
