Longines has launched a new titanium version of its heritage Pilot Majetek watch.
A stainless-steel version was launched last year that took inspiration from a piece released by Longines in the 1930s.
The name comes from the Czech phrase ‘Majetek Vojenské Správy’ meaning ‘Property of the Military Adminstration’.
The cushion-shaped watch was made as a special order for the Czech air force from the mid 1930s until the outbreak of war.
The new Pioneer Edition is made in a limited edition of 1,935 pieces in a nod to the year the watch was first registered.
At 9 o’clock, the 43 mm Grade 5 titanium case carries a little commemorative plate engraved with that birth year.
The watch is powered by Longines’ COSC-certified anti-magnetic calibre L893.6 automatic movement, with silicon balance spring and 72 hour power reserve.
The watch has a fluted bidirectional bezel, luminescent markings, and is water-resistant to 100m.
This Pioneer Edition is on a black fabric strap and comes in a special black presentation box.
There have been other recreations of the Majetek before. This one gives it a more modern case size – the original was 40mm, which was very big for the day.
Longines has been based in the Swiss Jura since 1832.
Beyond pilots’ watches, the brand has a long history of timing sporting events, from horse racing to athletics.
Longines is part of the giant Swatch group that includes Breguet, Hamilton, Omega and many more.
