Canada’s Marathon Watches creates special heritage timepiece

Brand with a history of supplying Allied Forces will only produce 157pieces in honour of Canada's 157th anniversary

Canadian watch brand Marathon is celebrating its homeland with the launch of the 41mm Arctic Red Maple GSAR.

Featuring a crisp white dial embellished with a bold red maple leaf appliqué, the new release pays homage to the country’s esteemed military legacy.

In honour of Canada’s 157th anniversary, only 157 watches have been produced, each with a numbered case back and side case engraving of Marathon’s ADANAC branding.

During Marathon’s history supplying Allied Forces, select government contracts included rigid restrictions that prohibited branding on timepieces.

In a nod to its own heritage and to ensure wearers knew that their trusted timepiece was born in the North, Marathon included the word ‘ADANAC’ on the dial of these watches -Canada spelled backwards.

Models featuring the unique ADANAC marking are exceptionally rare and are known now as coveted collector’s items, the company said.

Once the 157 limited editions sell out, a traditional version without the ADANAC marking will be available.

The 41mm ADANAC Arctic Red Maple GSAR is available for $1,600 on Marathon’s website.
