Citizen’s anniversary Promasters are fighting fit for air, land and sea

Sporty Eco-drive watches you can trust in the toughest conditions.

Citizen has released three new limited-edition models to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Promaster sports watch.

The Promaster was launched in 1989 to take on the challenges faced by the most adventurous outdoor types.

It helped further establish a reputation for tough watches that had begun in the 1950s with the Parawater, Japan’s first water-proof watch and a precursor to Citizen diving watches.

The new Promasters celebrate the three chosen environments in which the watches thrive: Sea, Land and Air.

The first is the Mechanical Diver 200m 35th Anniversary limited edition model.

Promaster Mechanical Diver in titanium.

Inspired by the 1977 Challenge Diver – nicknamed the Fujitsubo Diver – that was lost in the ocean and found years later washed up on a beach, still ticking. The design is inspired by Long Reef Beach in Australia where the watch was found.

The Mechanical Diver 200m 35th Anniversary design takes inspiration from the blue ocean and the white sand of the beach with blue accents on the dial and bezel.

The titanium case and bracelet are treated with Duratect Platinum*1, giving the metal a gleaming tone, and the 35th Anniversary limited edition logo is engraved on the caseback.

The movement is equipped with magnetic resistance to maintain the accuracy of the watch by reducing the effects of magnetic fields produced by smartphones and tablets.

High-spec features include average daily accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds and a running time of approx. 42 hours.

In the Air series, the Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Model has the Cal.U680 solar quartz movement, in a 45.7mm stainless-steel case.

The design theme is Midnight Sun, with greys inspired by polar regions when the sun never sets.

In the Land series, the Eco-Drive Combination Watch has a Cal.U822 Eco-drive movement in a 43.9mm stainless-steel case.

Each model is limited to between 4,500 and 5,900 pieces each.

Price for the Fujitsubo is $1195, Skyhawk and Eco-Drive Combination are $995.
