Breguet has taken the covers off two new additions to its Marine collection.
Marine 5529 & 9518 offer two different interpretations of Breguet’s long-term commitment to maritime timepieces.
Abraham-Louis Breguet was a master watchmaker when making the most accurate timepiece was about so much more than bragging rights.
Monsieur Breguet’s work, in the late 18th and early 19th century, came at a time when a good clock was vital to navigating the seas, making Breguet indispensable to the French navy.
The smaller of the two new pieces, Marine 9518, has a 33.8mm case available in 18-carat rose gold or white gold.
The blue dial features eight diamond hour markers, and a bezel festooned with 50 diamonds.
The gold hour and minute hands are luminous and open-tipped – the tip is shaped like a “B” – “Bravo” in navigation codes.
There is an automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve and it is water-resistant to 50m.
The second release is the Marine Chronograph 5529 with a 42.3mm case in 18-carat white or rose gold.
It features Breguet’s 582QA self-winding chronograph movement with 48-hour power reserve.
These blue dial has eight baguette-cut diamonds dotted around the chapter ring.
The 30-minute, 12-hour and 60-second chronograph counters appear at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.
The gold bezel features 90 baguette-cut diamonds and the watch is available on a blue leather or rubber strap, fitted with a triple-blade folding clasp and gold cap in the shape of a ship’s wheel.
