Frederique Constant has introduced a new slimmed-down version of its Classic Date Manufacture.
The case diameter has gone down from 42mm to the more universal sweet spot of 40mm.
But perhaps the bigger change is under the dial, with a new in-house movement.
The previous calibre gave an adequate 38 hours of power reserve, but new manufacture movement FC-706 has a weekend-spanning 72 hours.
The automatic movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, and a new finish has been applied to the bridges, which have been redesigned to fit the bigger barrel.
There are three versions, with a sunburst dial finished in either silver, salmon, or black.
Each features diamond-faceted applied hour markers and a railtrack minute circle.
It comes on either a black, blue or brown alligator leather strap with folding buckle.
The Classic Date Manufacture now comes with a five-year warranty.
Since the first collection of classically styled watches was released in the early 1990s, Frederique Constant has developed a reputation for bringing a lot of watch for the money.
The brand went about it the right way from the start, and has always put an emphasis on high quality watchmaking, with a reputation that has as they introduce more in-house movements.
Although it is inspired by classic watchmaking, Frederique Constant also looks forward, and was an early mover in the wearable tech space with its Horological Smartwatch.
Frederique Constant was founded in the late 1980s by Dutch husband and wife team Peter and Aletta Stas.
It is headquartered in Switzerland and, since 2016, has been part of Japan’s Citizen Watch Company.
