Rado opens its heart

Watch combine ceramic with open-worked dials.

Rado is building on the success of the skeletonized watch it launched last summer with its England cricket team sponsorship with another open dialed collection: the True Round Open Heart.

The watches are made from Rado’s signature material, ceramic, and have a dial with cut outs revealing moving parts of the maison’s artfully finished R734 automatic movements.

The dial is designed around a figure of 8 aperture, a nod to the production run of 888 for a limited edition within the collection.

That limited edition’s dial is protected under a dichroic sapphire crystal, which gives it an ever-changing rainbow-colored sheen like the surface of a bubble.

It has a 40mm white ceramic case and bracelet and golden hands and hour markers.

Three other core collection watches are the same size and come in white, black and grey, but have clear crystal glass.

All four watches are priced at $2,500.
