At the 2024 edition of Watches and Wonders, Piaget marked its 150th anniversary with an exquisite collection of jewellery watches that were described by the team at Long Island’s London Jewelers as one of the highlights of an action-packed week.
Momentum from that showcase is being maintained this year with a big push for Piaget’s Sixtie collection, a family of watches whose trapeze shape was first seen at Baselworld in 1969.
Yves Piaget declared at the time, from now on “A Piaget watch is first and foremost a piece of jewellery”, with gem-setting, free-form shapes and haute horlogerie coming together in a long line of avant-garde creations.
A full refresh of the Sixtie family was unveiled at Watches and Wonders in April.
The new two-hand collection ranges from a steel piece with a diamond bezel on sale for £9,800 to a model with a full rose gold case and bracelet decorated with 51 brilliant-cut diamonds selling for £32,600.
Their 29mm cases are a petite 6.5mm tall and house Swiss-made quartz movements.
Piaget celebrated the new collection with a high fashion party in Paris last week; demonstrating how jewellers have a cross-over appeal with their female clients that most Swiss watchmakers lack.
The event took place in Hôtel Mona Bismark and featured a catwalk show, dinner and an afterparty animated by British singer Nieve Ella.
Guests came from the worlds of fashion, art, and culture including the Face of the Maison Ella Richards, fashion photographer Brigitte Niedermair, Alexia Niedzielski, Suzi De Givenchy, Cleopatra Fürstin zu Oettingen-Spielberg, Julia Sarr-Jamois, Pernille Teisbaek, Jenny Walton, Diana-Louise Bartlett or Tish Weinstock among others.
