Meet the ‘DS-X’, from Swatch Group’s bafflingly bargainous Certina imprint: its newest “adventure-ready” watch collection, which is a refreshingly bang-on-trend ‘pop!’ of summer tones lacking a single whiff of slavish throwback or reissue. With compass cardinal points and 24-hour GMT hand into the mix, no less.
Like the system pioneered by Rolex in the 1950s, the GMT hand lets you keep track of two or even three time zones by turning the 24-hour bezel to bring another 24-hour calibration into play.
Add 200 meter water resistance, a protected crown, ‘HeavyDriveTM’ tech, Super-LumiNova® for low light and you’ve got a serious tool and major bang for your bucks (just 535 of them, on rubber strap).
For over 135 years, Certina has crafted watches with this sort of value built in. Just as it was designed, fresh, bold and forward-looking, the DS-X GMT is the next evolution of the iconic DS system: the “New DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance”. Far exceeding the standards of ISO 1413, it brings additional durability to the watch.
The new DS-X collection is available in five vibrant styles. A white dial on a turquoise-blue rubber strap with an orange and blue day/night bezel, alongside four bold grey dial versions.
Two feature a green and black bezel, paired with either a matching rubber strap or steel bracelet, while the other two come with a red and black bezel, available on a black rubber strap or steel bracelet. Each GMT hand matches the bezel accent color: orange, green, or red, mirroring the bezel for a coordinated look.
