WATCH FACES: IWC’s F1 premiere and more

Featuring the likes of racing superstars George Russell, Lando Norris, and silver-screen icon Brad Pitt

Our engines were revved this week with some excellent watch spotting at the premiere of the upcoming F1 movie, of which IWC sponsors the fictional team.

In surprise to precisely no one, the brand got its watches on some noteworthy wrists, including George Russell – the racing world’s man of the moment, after his Canadian Grand Prix win on Sunday.

Elsewhere, horological connoisseur Marky Mark Wahlberg made another case for Norqain as the brand to watch, while Justin Bieber celebrated Father’s Day in style courtesy of a (to quote Dimepiece) Teeny-Tiny Royal Oak.

Here’s a roundup of WatchPro’s favourite Watch Faces.

George Russell

Brand ambassador George Russell was always going to be wearing an impressive IWC number as he took to the red carpet in New York on Monday night for the F1 The Movie premiere – and he didn’t disappoint, spotted wearing the limited-edition Ingenieur Automatic 40.

Inspired by a prop watch of the Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832, worn by Sonny Hayes in the movie, it’s limited to 1,000 pieces, it has a grid-patterned green dial with gold-plated markers – the same color combination as the APXGP racing team.

Mark Wahlberg

Summer screams ice cream, and actor Mark Wahlberg got the memo, taking to Instagram to show off his new Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono Enjoy Life Special Edition. Spotlighted by candy hues and a charming ice cream cone that appears in the date window every seventh day, the 40mm stainless steel timepiece is powered by the caliber N19 (Sellita SW510 a) movement and has 62 hours power reserve. It’s finished with an engraving reminding us to “enjoy life” – Marky Mark certainly is.

Lando Norris

Accompanying his Formula 1 rivals on at the movie premiere was Lando Norris, hoping to distract from that own-goal crash wearing a Richard Mille RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph in White Ceramic. The model features the first flyback chronograph entirely developed and designed by the brand – a feat which took over 30 months of work.

Adam Mosseri

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri was interviewed about changes to the platform’s algorithm on Hypebeasts’ socials, doing so wearing a vintage Rolex King Midas with a lapis lazuli dial. First released in 1975, it’s crafted from a weighty 18K yellow gold (hence the name), and is characterized by its integrated bracelet of articulated ingots – an unusual design for watches of its day, which has fuelled speculation that the legend that is Gérald Genta might have had something to do with it…

Brad Pitt

Star of the much-mentioned F1 movie Brad Pitt surprisingly eschewed the temptation of IWC in favor if a Patek Philippe Ref. 2526 at the New York premiere on Monday. Crafted from yellow gold with an enamel dial, the 36mm model was first released at the Basel Fair in1953 as the maison’s first automatic wristwatch.

Justin Bieber

Following suit of wife Hailey’s penchant for the model, singer Justin Bieber posted on Instagram to show off the new Audemars Piguet Mini Royal Oak that he was gifted on Father’s Day. Spotlighted by its Frosted Gold case – an effect created by detailed hammering – the perfectly petite 23mm model is powered by the high-quality quartz caliber 2730 with a seven-year battery life.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold recently signed for Real Madrid, and was spotted at the press conference wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 that was sourced by London watch dealers, The Kettle Kids. Featuring a constellation of baguette diamonds, each cut slightly trapezoidal to perfectly match the rounded corners of the octagonal bezel, it’s powered by the self-winding caliber 26-330 S C movement which is visible through a sapphire caseback.

Coco Gauff

Fresh from the French Open, American tennis player Coco Gauff posted on Instagram, where eagle-eyed fans spotted her wearing the same Rolex Oyster Perpetual in “Red Grape” that she won the title in. This steel model with a distinct purple sunray dial was discontinued in 2020, but remains a mainstay in her wristwear arsenal – she also wore the watch when she won her first women’s singles title at the US Open in 2023.

Colman Domingo

Friend of the brand, actor Colman Domingo, was recently spotted wearing an Omega Seamaster on a mesh strap. A diving favourite since 1993, the 42mm stainless steel model features a black aluminium dial, laser-engraved with the iconic wave pattern, while the black oxalic anodized aluminium bezel includes a diving scale featuring white Super-LumiNova.

Central Cee

Celebrating his second year as a brand ambassador, rapper Central Cee was pictured wearing a G-Shock DW-6900 – apparently his favorite watch thanks to its nostalgic appeal. Forming part of the brand’s aptly named Icons collection, the digital watch is 200m water resistant, and has a battery life of approximately five years.

The man himself says, “I’ve worn and loved G-SHOCK from day one. The people I looked up to on my come up all rocked the 6900 and I’ve never stopped repping.”

Jonathan Daviss

Actor Jonathan Daviss arrived at the BET Awards 2025 alongside Snoop Dogg, whom he is set to play in an upcoming biopic – but it was his timepiece that was arguably the better plus one. The Carrera Date 39mm arrives as the TAG Heuer Carrera in its most elegant form, and features a finely brushed steel case and matching silver sunray dial. Worn on an embossed leather strap, it’s powered by the Caliber 5 Automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours.

Pierre Gasly

Seeing out the premiere in style was Pierre Gasly – official friend of H. Moser & Cie. since March 2023 in conjunction with its Alpine Motorsports collaboration. The Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition is a skeletonized mechanical chronograph built in collaboration with Alpine’s F1 team. Taking inspiration from the racetrack, the open dial reveals the engineering beneath the bonnet, while the blue and white colorway was chosen to evoke speed and echo Alpine’s signature identity.
