Christopher Ward debuts its most ambitious in-house watch yet

The C12 Loco is a bold, technically advanced model powered by the brand’s second in-house movement - the CW-003 caliber

Christopher Ward has been quietly working on its most complex and invested project to date, with the aim to deliver accessible haute horology and genuine technical innovation.

The C12 Loco reworks a three-piece, 41mm Twelve case, designed to feel less bulky courtesy of steeper downturned lugs that contour to the wrist, maintaining a surprisingly slim 9.75 thickness – a feat given everything that’s going on inside.

The real headline here is the appearance of the brand’s second in-house movement, the CW-003 (we’re not sure what happened to 002), which has been designed exclusively for the model.

Offering an impressive 144-hour (six-day) power reserve, it features a free-sprung balance wheel – adjusted by precision screws rather than regulating pins – for enhanced stability and accuracy.

Twin barrels power the movement, and its symmetrical layout aligns components such as the balance wheel and mainspring barrels for visual harmony and efficient energy flow.

This a movement made to be admired, with its sleek architecture visible through an open caseback. Here, hand-finished bridges feature rounded, polished facets that reflect light, adding depth and sophistication to the visible mechanics.

The stainless steel model comes in four bold colorways – Ursa black, Alabaster White, Pasadena Blue, and Frisco Orange.

The C12 Loco is priced at £3,795 on a rubber strap and £3,995 on an integrated steel bracelet.

To mark the launch, Christopher Ward has released a behind-the-scenes documentary that offers an unfiltered look at the two-year journey behind the watch’s creation. It’s available to watch for free on YouTube now via this link.
