Scroll through social media and it won’t be long before you’re greeted by the distinct melting design of the Cartier Crash, worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner and even watch aficionado GOAT Tom Brady.
Though there have been many reiterations of varying success, another name that’s harnessed the Surrealist aesthetic in its own right is Swiss brand Exaequo Melting Watch.
Now, Exaequo is expanding its collection with two bold new models: Polyhedron and Revolve – both unveiled at Geneva’s Time to Watches fair earlier this month.
These unique timepieces continue the brand’s mission to challenge traditional watch design through unconventional shapes and artistic expression.
The Polyhedron Melting Watch takes direct inspiration from Exaequo’s earliest model, now reimagined with a 62-facet 925 sterling silver case.
Measuring 55.29mm by 35.35mm and weighing 38.5 grams, each case requires two days of meticulous manual and machine work.
Beneath the mineral glass, three dial variations mark 101 years since the first Surrealist manifesto, featuring classic Roman numerals, a reverse dial, and a limited “101” edition.
Inside, the Ronda 751-A1G3 quartz movement ensures reliable timekeeping, protected by a screw-down back and 30m water resistance.
In contrast, the Revolve model offers a radical asymmetric design, resembling surrealist lips when rotated.
Available in polished 316L stainless steel or gold PVD, the case measures 51.2mm by 33mm, and houses the Ronda 762-AJG3 quartz movement, with hour and minute hands controlled via a left-side crown.
Three dial colour options – white, blue, and black – are paired with a black silicone strap and deployant clasp.
