Fears introduces classical dress watch family

The Arnos is inspired by the slim, rectangular timepieces of the 20s and 30s found in the brand's archive

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but one of the oldest names in British watchmaking can make new timepieces – and well, we might add.

Expanding its core collection, the new Arnos Pewter Blue is the first in a new line of watches, and sits alongside the permanent fixtures of the Redcliff and Brunswick.

A contemporary take on the classic rectangular shape, it’s inspired by the slim, rectangular timepieces of the 1920s and 1930s found in Fears’ illustrious archive.

Named after Arnos Vale, the Bristol location of the brand’s headquarters, this model pays tribute to the Fear’s history while embracing contemporary craftsmanship.

The 33.5mm x 22.6mm stainless steel case remains true to Fears’ signature proportions, offering a refined, elongated profile.

Both the curved sapphire crystal and the gently contoured case back ensure an exceptional wrist fit, emphasising the charming balance between form and function that fourth generation managing director Nicholas Bowman-Scargill has become known for.

The Arnos Pewter Blue introduces a striking dial concept: a blue circle set within a grey rectangle. The ‘outer dial’ is CNC-machined with a hobnail pattern and rhodium-coated, while the sunken ‘inner dial’ boasts a galvanic blue finish with circular graining, creating a real sense of depth and texture.

For the first time in a modern core Fears model, contemporary Roman numerals make an appearance, enhancing the watch’s distinctive character and unique positioning in its timepiece arsenal.

Time is indicated by Fears’ signature pipette-shaped hands, featuring diamond-cut bevels and rhodium plating for superior legibility.

At the heart of the Arnos Pewter Blue is the top-grade Sellita SW1000 automatic movement, customised for Fears. Measuring just 3.9mm thick, this compact yet powerful calibre features a 46-hour power reserve and a Fears Blue rotor engraved with the flower of Bristol motif.

Fears has partnered with Delugs for the first time to provide two bespoke strap options. The first, a hand-sewn taupe Barenia leather strap, offers a classic aesthetic with a fold-over edge for a sleek profile. The second, a dark blue FKM rubber strap with a curved butterfly clasp and micro-adjust system, introduces a sportier feel.

The Fears Arnos Pewter Blue is now available for pre-order via Fears’ online platform, the Fears boutique in Bristol, and authorised stockists worldwide.

Priced at £4,350, the first batch is set to ship in July 2025.

The watch will also be publicly unveiled at Time to Watches 2025 in Geneva from 1-6 April at Villa Sarasin.
