Hermès revisits the moon and equestrian motifs with fresh optimism for 2025

The house updates the Arceau collection and introduces the Slim d'Hermès Cheval brossé

It’s been an exciting week at Chez Hermès, with the maison making headlines this week with shares surging 3.5% to a record €2,912 in Paris, continuing a five-year rise of over 300%.

Hoping to fuel this growing success, yesterday the brand announced new additions to the Arceau collection, as well as an all-new model, the Slim d’Hermès Cheval brossé.

Arceau

Hermès is revisiting the Arceau collection with two new models: the Arceau L’Heure de la Lune, first released in 2019, and the Arceau Le Temps Voyageur, a later 2022 model.

The limited-edition Hermès Arceau L’heure de la lune watch is reimagined in three models, each featuring a lunar meteorite dial: the Blue Grey Moon (white gold and blue titanium) is adorned with authentic lunar rock, the Vesta (rose gold and titanium) displays a fragment of one of the largest known asteroids of the same name, and the Erg Chech (white and rose gold) is decorated with Erg Chech meteorite, a rare magmatic rock.

These watches feature mobile counters that orbit the dial over 59 days, gradually revealing the moon discs.

Powered by an exclusive 117-component Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement, this intricate mechanism, housed within a 43mm case, has a 40-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Elsewhere, Hermès relaunches the Arceau Le temps voyageur which showcases a dial inspired by the Planisphère d’un monde équestre motif by Jérôme Colliard.

First introduced in 2022, it is now available in a 38mm white and rose gold version, detailed with 78 diamonds and a mother-of-pearl dial with a pearl grey strap, while the 41mm white gold version features a grey-blue lacquered dial and an abyss blue alligator strap.

On both, a circular disc displays 24 time zones, indicating home time at 12 o’clock, while a mobile counter shows local time. This complex mechanism is powered by a 122-component module integrated into the Manufacture Hermès H1837 self-winding movement.

Slim d’Hermès Cheval brossé

Taking a decidedly more artistic direction, the new Slim d’Hermès Cheval brossé watch is a limited edition of just 24 numbered pieces.

Using crushed colored glass powder mixed with natural oils, artisans meticulously brush the blue enamel base, drying and firing it to stabilize the pigments. This creates a vivid azure sky that contrasts beautifully with the sweeping horse motif to the dial.

Designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko to reflect Hermès’ 2025 theme, “Drawn to craft,” the horse’s profile is built up in layers using a cliché engraving and transferred with a flexible pad, achieving exceptional depth and brilliance.

Featuring a white gold 39.5mm case with an anti-glare sapphire crystal and 3 bar water resistance, it is powered by the ultra-thin self-winding Manufacture Hermès H1950 movement.

With a 30 mm diameter, 2.6 mm thickness, and 48-hour power reserve, it vibrates at 21,600 vph, ensuring precision and reliability.

Finished with a luxurious matt Bleu Abysse alligator strap, the Slim d’Hermès Cheval brossé feels like an optimistic reimagining of the maison’s signature equestrian motif, perhaps manifesting an equally cheerful financial year ahead.
