Grand Seiko is upgrading its Heritage 62GS Sekki Collection for 2025 with two refreshed models, the SBGH351 Rikka and SBGH353 Shūbun, now crafted from the brand’s exclusive Ever-Brilliant Steel.
These updates bring subtle changes to the dial designs while retaining the signature design codes that have made the 62GS models iconic.
First launched in 2019, the Sekki collection drew inspiration from Japan’s 24 seasonal phases, or sekki, with each model featuring a unique dial color reflecting the time of year.
While the pink-toned SBGA413 Shunbun and winter-themed SBGA415 Taisetsu, both powered by Spring Drive movements, received much of the attention, the summer and autumn models – SBGH271 Rikka and SBGH273 Shūbun – have often flown under the radar.
For 2025, these two Hi-Beat models are getting a fresh update, retaining their classic 40mm case size and sharp lines but now enhanced by the superior Ever-Brilliant Steel.
This steel alloy, exclusive to Grand Seiko, offers better corrosion resistance and a brighter sheen than traditional stainless steel, especially after the brand’s signature Zaratsu polishing.
The updated material enhances the case’s design, which remains true to the original 1967 62GS, with its bezel-less case and multi-faceted surfaces that emphasize clean lines and smooth transitions.
While the case and movement remain unchanged, the dials have undergone slight revisions.
The SBGH351 Rikka, representing summer, now features a more subtle, steel-colored hour markers and hands, replacing the gold accents from the previous model.
The SBGH353 Shūbun, symbolizing autumn, sees a deeper, more saturated blue dial compared to its predecessor.
Beneath the updated dials beats the proven 9S85 Hi-Beat movement which features 36,000 vibrations per hour and 55-hour power reserve.
The 9S85 also features MEMS technology for enhanced precision and durability.
Both models are available from February 2025, priced at EUR 8,000.
