Zenith extends Defy Skyline

Defy Skyline was launched by Zenith last year as a broad-appeal everyday luxury steel-on-steel sports watch; the sort of time-only piece that every brand needs as a gateway into anything more complicated.

The Skyline range has been extended this year with a 36mm collection available in the same blue as the 41mm original plus pastel shades of pink or green.

Their design is the same as the 41mm pieces, with dials decorated with stars.

A 30 second counter at 8 o’clock has removed, but there is still a date displayed at 3 o’clock.

There are models with or without diamond-set bezels for each of the three colorways.

They come with integrated steel bracelets that can be change for rubber straps matching watches’ dial colors.

The 36mm Defy Skyline costs $8,500 without diamonds and $12,000 with.

Boutique-only Defy Skyline

Also new to the Defy Skyline collection is a boutique-only model with an anthracite dial engraved with a rose gold motif and set with rose gold hands and hour markers.

Defy Skyline Skeleton

Away from the mainstream Skyline models, Defy is a also multiyear project used to demonstrate the more futuristic movement making and artistry of Zenith, and the first watches of 2023 take the Skyline family in that direction with a skeletonised model using the El Primero 3600 1/10th of a second automatic movement that drives central hours and minutes hands and a 1/10th of a second subdial at 6 o’clock.

The blue or dark grey star-based skeleton on the dial has been seen before in the Defy Skeleton collection, and has been adopted again with the Skylines to give a view into the openworked movement.

The watch is packaged in a 41mm steel case with integrated bracelet.

The bracelet can be swapped for a blue rubber strap with a starry sky pattern.

It is on sale immediately for $11,000.
