Zenith has created a limited edition tribute watch to the Rolling Stones in the week that the band opens a unique exhibition into its history at London’s Saatchi Gallery.
The Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Tribute to The Rolling Stones watch was actually unveiled last month to coincide with the group’s first concert in Cuba, but is a fitting horological celebration for a band that has always had time on its side during its six decades in rock.
Zenith has been an official partner with the band since 2014.
Only five pieces, priced at $243,700 (£168,000) have been created of the watch, which has a 45 mm-diameter rose gold case has a dial featuring the Rolling Stones licking tongue logo and Union Jack flag.
Hand-engraved Roman numerals mark the quarter-hours on the offset time display at 12 o’clock, while the small seconds tick by at 9 o’clock at the centre of the intersecting, overlaid crosses on the Union Jack flag.
It is powered by a manual winding El Primero Calibre 8804 comprising 308 parts of which 171 are devoted to the gyroscopic module at 6 o’clock.
