WOTY 2012: Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar

Earlier this year WatchPro unveiled its Watches of the Year 2012 – the 10 winning timepieces and 90 highly commended watches that we felt boasted commercial appeal, innovation and had wowed consumers and retailers alike over the past 12 months.

Highly commended in the Classic Watch of the Year category was the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar.

For 2012 Glashütte Original’s in-house designers created noticeably larger, cylindrical cases for its array of mechanical timepieces and for the PanoMaticLunar this has meant even more impact from its off-centre dial display.

The layout of this timepiece has been defined in accordance to the notion of divine proportion – that is, the law of aesthetic harmony that has fascinated artists and designers for centuries.

As an artwork on your wrist, the PanoMaticLunar in stainless steel is a classically good-looking watch with a traditional moonphase.

It is powered by Glashütte Original’s Calibre 90-02, a self-winding 47-jewel mechanical movement with a power reserve of 42 hours, and has final flourishes such as an off-centre skeletonised 21-ct gold rotor and blued screws.
