WATCHPRO ORIGINALS: TheSaleRoom.com CEO John-Paul Savant says watch auctions’ popularity is surging

Thesaleroom.com, part of the Auction Technology Group, is a platform where hundreds of auctioneers from around the world come together to reach a global audience of millions.

At a time when we cannot come together to bid in person at auctions, thesaleroom.com has become a valuable partner for auctioneers and a place where enthusiasts and collectors can visit and buy watches every day of the week.

The site lists auctions from across categories ranging from art and antiques to stamps and furniture.

There are 300 auctioneers working with the site listing around 80,000 watches every year, and the company’s chief executive John-Paul Savant says the number of bids at watch auctions has risen by 72% over the past five years.

Watch search terms have risen up the top 10 searches on thesaleroom.com in the past year, but especially since lock down started.
