Watches of Switzerland and Watchonista have teamed up to host an open house of Grand Seiko’s immersive showcase at the retailer’s Manhattan store in SoHo.
Grand Seiko’s Nature of Time Experience is a chance to see the largest range of watches ever presented by the brand outside of Japan, including an exclusive selection of pieces normally only seen and sold in Japan.
At the Watchonista open house on August 12, customers will take a deep dive into the history, philosophy and culture of Grand Seiko through product demonstrations, watchmaking tutorials, and Q&As with Grand Seiko’s Joe Kirk.
The experience is divided into four themed zones.
At the front of the space is a photo-friendly alcove dressed from floor to ceiling in sakura (cherry blossom) motifs. This leads into the main gallery presentation of Grand Seiko timepieces spanning the Sport, Heritage, Masterpiece, and Elegance collections.
A middle room is the darker and more zen, with shoji screens back-lit by swirling shades of blue and purple.
Digital screens alternate between soothing, seasonal scenes of nature and Japanese poems that set the mood for viewing the Nature of Time collection that comprises “Hanaikada” representing the cherry blossoms of Spring, “Rikka” representing the verdant vitality of Summer, “Tsukiyo” representing the moonlit nights of Autumn, and “Miyuki” representing the snowy silence of Winter.
The Watchonista x Grand Seiko Open House is an exclusive one-day experience for Watchonista’s readers and followers.
It takes place on Wednesday, August 12, from 11 am to 7 pm at 119 Spring Street in New York City.
