WatchPro called it one of the hot trends of Baselworld and now Watch Shop, the UK’s biggest online watch retailer has also noted that square timepieces are making a major comeback this year.

In its online blog, the Aurum Holdings retailer notes: “It’s hip to be square — at least as far as watches are concerned. A popular style in the art deco era of the 1920s and ’30s, square-faced watches made a modest comeback in the 1960s: the likes of John F. Kennedy, Steve McQueen, and Marilyn Monroe were all seen rocking the look.”

Several fashion watch brands have moved towards square dials including Gucci, Olivia Burton, Certina and Larsson & Jennings and Storm London.
