Visconti takes inspiration from Italian bomber for its 2018 Aviator collection

Florentine watch business Visconti is embracing the historic style of pilot watches worn by Italian airmen with its 2018 Aviator SM 79.

The watch is inspired by the Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero aircraft, a plane originally designed in the 1930s to carry passengers but reconfigured as a high speed bomber during the war.

The Aviator SM 79 is a classical pilot watch with a large 44.5mm steel case and clear bold dial making it easily readable. An oversized crown makes it possible to adjust the watch while wearing gloves.

The collection includes a time-only automatic movement model and a chronograph including day and date, with both movements sourced from Sellita.
