Vintage Rolex with moonphase set to smash $1m barrier at Christie’s upcoming New York auction

Christie’s New York has announced an exceptional watches auction which features lots with estimates in excess of $1m.

Set to be hosted on December 6, the auction offers a curated selection of 160 lots which will be predominantly fresh to market.

The auction will include a number of high-end watches, including a Rolex 18k Gold Automatic Triple Calendar Wristwatch estimated to go for $1-2m.

Patek Philippe pieces will also be among the more expensive pieces to go under the hammer, most notably a Graves-Fullerton 3448Jm which is expected to go for around $150,000, formerly owned by the Grandson of Henry Graves.

Elsewhere in the auction is an Audemars Freres 18k Gold Hunter case quarter repeating pocket watch which belonged to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This piece is expected to go for between $30,000 and $50,000.

Taking place alongside the exceptional watches event is the Christie’s Watches Online: Winter Holiday Sale which features around 200 watches going under the hammer.

Public preview of both sales includes a full exhibition at Christie’s 20 Rockefeller Center Galleries between November 30 and December 6.
