Hublot, a long-term partner with Ferrari, is dialing up its activity in 2017 because it is the 70th anniversary of the iconic car maker.
The big launch at Baselworld was the Hublot Techframe Ferrari Toubillon Chronograph, which was almost entirely designed by the the team of Ferrari chief designer Flavio Manzoni.
“They have really wanted for many years to create a watch. This year I said, why not? At the end of the day, they know how to create highly technical and beautiful cars, so why not a watch?” Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot says in an interview with WatchPro.
The Ferrari-designed timepiece is proving to be an instant hit with end user customers and retail partners. “We have shown that watch to retailers for four days, and they have all been really excited about it. And it is a chronograph tourbillon, which is quite an expensive model, but they still love it. I think this year we will sell out of the 70 pieces that we are making, which is really good,” Mr Guadalupe predicts.
