TAG Heuer lines up colorful grid of Formula 1 watches

It used to be accepted wisdom that you could sell watches in any color, as long as it was blue or white.

Those days feel like another era with the pandemic year triggering an unexpected explosion in dials of many colors.

Now color is everywhere, and the latest additions to the canon are a trio of bright Formula 1 chronographs from TAG Heuer in racy red, green and yellow.

The quartz-based watches aim to capture the edge-of-your-seat appeal of Formula 1 back in the 1980s, the decade defined by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna’s blockbuster rivalry.

The collection, which is on sale from today for $1,850, combines sunray dials with rubber straps in matching colors.

The 43mm steel watches come with black snailed subdials and a black PVD steel fixed tachymeter bezel with raised numerals.

The quartz movement is protected by a closed steel back with a checkered flag motif.
