Retail partners stocking Swatch Group brands could be forgiven for getting a little jumpy as they wait for news of how and when they will get to see 2019 collections.
Some may be happy to wait until an e-mail drops into their inbox with images and information about this year’s models, but everybody is aware that a picture and spec sheet tells only half the story.
It is only when you feel a watch’s weight; try it against the wrist; study it up close through a loupe that timepieces come to life and experienced buyers can spot a winner or a dud.
In December Reuters reported that Swatch Group will host an event for watch retailers in Zurich from March 19 to 26, but no retail partner contacted by WatchPro had any knowledge of the plan. If the dates turn out to be correct, Swatch Group will be pitching itself head-to-head with Baselworld, the show it abandoned for this year, which runs from March 21 to 26.
A spokesperson for the company said today it has “had no formal communication on this at all”.
