Michigan-based watchmaker Shinola has celebrated Independence Day with a special timepiece collection.
The ‘Statue of Liberty’ collection aims to pay homage to a monument that for over 100 years, has reminded Americans what the US stands for.
Paying tribute to neoclassical sculpture, both watches from the collection combine a concrete base-inspired, textured gray dial with copper-toned indices and hands. The theme continues on the caseback which features lady liberty’s torch.
As part of the release of the new collection, Shinola welcomed over 100 new citizens into the United States.
The watchmaker, which started in Detroit five years ago with aim to take manufacturing jobs back to the city, went along to a naturalization ceremony at the Moynihan U.S Courthouse in New York last month, to celebrate over 100 people gaining a US citizenship.
More on the story can be seen in the video Shinola made about the day.
