Seiko is celebrating the success of its global brand ambassador Novak Djokovic who won the Wimbledon men’s single final on Sunday.
It has been a lean few years for Mr Djokovic, starving Seiko of valuable screen time for the Astron wristwatch he wears.
But global coverage of Wimbledon ensured that the Japanese watchmaker got a healthy return on its investment as the 13-time Grand Slam winner strapped on his limited edition Astron GPS Solar.
“The whole world saw that Novak is back to his best and it was an honor as well as a delight for Seiko to see him holding aloft the famous Wimbledon trophy with his Astron GPS Solar on his wrist. Thank you, Novak,” Seiko says in a statement.
The limited edition Astron has the names of the four grand slam tournaments’ host cities: London, Melbourne, New York and Paris picked out in yellow on the world timer bezel while a stripe pattern on the dial offers a discreet echo of the way a grass court is mown.
The tennis scores of ‘Love, 15, 30 and 40’ surround the dual-time sub-dial in a discreet and witty design accent.
