Richard Mille reveals $1 million Automatic Tourbillon McLaren Speedtail special

0

Richard Mille has created a brand new movement for a new watch developed in the fifth year of its partnership with supercar manufacturer McLaren.

The RM 40-01 Automatic Tourbillon McLaren Speedtail houses the CRMT4 calibre, which uses titanium for its bridges, screws, baseplate and rotor core.

It introduces Richard Mille’s first in-house developed power reserve display as well as an oversize date and function selector complications, none of which have been seen before on one of the watchmakers in house tourbillon timepieces.

Only 106 of the watches are being made, the same number as the production run of the McLaren.

Richard Mille calls it the most extreme watch ever made matched to a specific hypercar design of the fastest road-going car McLaren has ever built”.

‘There are many similarities between the way that Richard Mille and McLaren approach common design an engineering challenges, such as saving weight, reducing vibrational impact and minimising resistance,” adds Rob Melville, McLaren Automotive’s design director.

It goes on sale for $1,022,000.
